Albert Bonsfills is a Barcelona-based photographer working internationally. His photographic practice is rooted in a documentary approach, which he brings to fashion, commercial and editorial commissions.
His images are driven by a strong sense of observation, intimacy and composition, often finding a balance between the real and the constructed, the spontaneous and the carefully staged. A subtle sense of irony and a personal visual language run through his work, allowing him to approach people, places and stories with the same curiosity, regardless of the context.
Living intermittently in China and Japan between 2011 and 2019 shaped his way of looking at people and everyday life. Those years strengthened a documentary approach based on observation, curiosity and an attention to the unexpected — a way of seeing that he now brings to both personal and commissioned work.
His work includes collaborations with National Geographic, TIME, The New Yorker, The New York Times, El País Semanal, Newsweek, Bloomberg Businessweek, Mango, Bobo Choses, PDPAOLA, Kettal, Caixabank, Moleskine, WeTransfer, Amazon and Airbnb, and nominations to the Magnum Foundation’s Emergency Fund and the Joop Swart Masterclass of World Press Photo.
