LINA AND MENGCHUN - Beijing, China
Lina and Mengchun are friends and spend 24 hours a day next to each other: they work, dream and have fun together. They live underground in a subterranean bunker with no facilities for handicapped people. Lina was born with severe vision problems and at the age of 10 she lost it completely. Mengchun was born with albinism which also caused her an extreme visual impairment. Since she was a little child, she felt discriminated by the others, though her field of vision is reduced, her eyes have become the eyes of her inseparable friend.
Their special relationship is an example that should be emulated. I received a valuable lesson which I will never forget: we would only appreciate life, love and friendship when we get to see through other eyes, the eyes of the heart.
